Five FISD Football Teams Prepare For Playoff Games

The regular season is over, but half of Frisco ISD’s varsity football teams are preparing for the University Interscholastic League playoffs this week. Five FISD teams will be in the playoffs: Lone Star, Frisco, Independence, Reedy and Wakeland.

Lone Star, which finished the regular season 10-0 for the first time, is the District 5-5A Division I champion. Frisco (9-1) beat Lovejoy on Friday to clinch the District 7-5A Division II title.

Wakeland (5-5) will be making its seventh straight playoff appearance, while Lone Star will make its fifth straight appearance. Reedy (6-4) will make its third straight playoff appearance, while Frisco and Independence (8-2) are in the playoffs for the second straight year.

Here’s the schedule for the first round of the playoffs:

Independence (8-2) vs. Mansfield Timberview (6-4), 7 p.m. Thursday at FISD Memorial Stadium
Lone Star (10-0) vs. Mansfield Legacy (4-6), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ford Center
Wakeland (5-5) vs. Highland Park (9-1), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Highland Park’s Highlander Stadium
