The District 9-5A Swimming and Diving Meet featured a lot of winners, but Wakeland was the big winner at the two-day meet at Frisco ISD’s Bruce Eubanks Natatorium.
Wakeland won both the boys and girls District championships, edging Reedy in the girls team standings and dominating the boys team standings. Reedy was also second in the boys standings, followed closely by Memorial, while Centennial finished third in the girls team standings.
The top teams and individuals from the District 9-5A Meet qualified for the Region 3-5A Meet, which will be Feb. 5-6 at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium. Several student athletes and coaches were honored by the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association for their performance at the District meet. The honorees:

The goal for the swimmers and divers is to compete at the UIL State Meet, which this year will be in San Antonio. Since 2016, FISD has had 14 individual state champions and 47 individual state medalists representing eight high schools.
