With a powerful running game and a strong defensive effort, the Frisco High School football team made a grand return to the playoffs Thursday night.

The Raccoons, who finished 0-10 a year ago, rolled over Sulphur Springs 41-14 at the Ford Center. It was the seventh win in the last nine games for the Raccoons (7-4), who will play the winner of Everman and South Oak Cliff in the second round of the 5A Division II playoffs.

Nick Stanton and Blake May each rushed for more than 100 yards for Frisco, which piled up 290 yards on the ground and didn't have a turnover. The Frisco defense intercepted one pass and also recovered a Sulphur Springs fumble.

That fumble was returned 43 yards by Nick Holland for a touchdown to cap a 28-point spree that gave Frisco a 41-7 late in the game. The 28 unanswered points included a 33-yard touchdown run by Blake May, a 4-yard touchdown run by Nick Stanton -- his third TD run of the game -- and a 14-yard touchdown run by Bryson Clemons.

In addition to forcing turnovers, the Frisco defense stopped Sulphur Springs four times on fourth down.
